Homeopathy

We're fans of homeopathy and keep a few homeopathic remedies in our medicine cabinet.

While many homeopathic remedies are selected based on the individual dog, there are a handful that are commonly kept on hand because they're frequently used and relatively straightforward:

• Arnica

• Sulphur

• Rhus Tox

Arnica is probably the one we reach for most often. It's become a staple in our home after hard play, bumps, bruises, and the occasional reminder that charging through life at full speed has consequences.

Carolyn uses Arnica, too. Apparently keeping up with me can be surprisingly hard work.

One of the interesting things about homeopathic remedies is that dosing isn't based on the size of the dog. A Chihuahua and a Great Dane would receive the same remedy and potency.

Because homeopathy is highly individualized, we encourage you to work with a knowledgeable practitioner—or at the very least, spend some time educating yourself before diving too deeply. Understanding your dog's overall constitution can be an important part of selecting the right remedy.
